Bandwidth is the amount of data moved between your site and the browsers of the customer's accessing your site. Where is my Control Panel? All accounts come with our control account cpanel. You can access your control panel at: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/ or you may use, http://your_ip_address/cpanel/ If using http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/ (This will not be active until your domain has been transferred to our nameservers.) You will be asked to enter your user / pass to gain access to your configuration. Do you have Front-Page extensions? Front Page extensions can be installed for your account. They are not installed automatically during the initial setup. Send us a support request and we will install them for you. What is SSH? SSH is similar to telnet, but it's more secure. It uses high level encryption and compression to make sure nobody can takeover or eavesdrop on your telnet session What are the DNS Servers The dns servers are as listed below: DNS1.STATIC22.COM 70.86.13.2 DNS2.STATIC22.COM 70.86.13.3 Can I have adult material? What counts as Adult material? No we do not allow adult material. Nudity, pornography or offensive material are counted as adult material. What scripts/programs are not allowed? We do not allow programs/scripts that use excessive resources on our shared servers to ensure optimum system performance. Scripts specifically banned include but are not limited to the following:
What conection do you use? We utilise high speed network conections. We are connected via Sprint™ (http://www.sprint.com) OC3 (155mbps) connection, as well as a Cogent™ (http://www.cogentco.com) 100mbps Metro Fast Ethernet drop. A 3rd backbone provider is scheduled to be added by the end of 2002. For redundancy, We are currently running BGP4 (border gateway routing protocol) to maintain the speed and uptime. If one backbone line goes down, it will balance the load to the other(s). If one line gets congested, it will load balance the traffic. All servers are connected via a 100mbps switch, to ensure full available bandwidth. What server and OS do you use? We use nothing but the best quality hardware in our systems. Curently we have one server but as we grow we will come to add another. The specs are as folows: Intel(R) Pentium(R) III CPU 1200MHz 512 megs ram Red hat 7.3 What Backup Measures Are Taken? All servers are wired into an uninterruptible power supply, as well as connected to a deisel backup generator. All data is backed up on a regular bases although we ask that you backup your own sites data as well to be on the safe side. Why would I want my own IP address? This gives you a static and direct connection to your web site. You may use it to modify or make links directly to a web site that does not have DNS settings configured I just changed my DNS and my website still does not work? This is because it takes 1-3 days for your settings to be broadcast. A good way to check if things are being broadcast. is to do a ping from your MS DOS Prompt. Simply type: ping yourdomain.com and if it returns with replies from an IP address starting with 66.246 then it should be done updating. Is There any other way to access my website while waiting for dns to update? Yes there is infact a way by using http://70.86.13.2/~username How do I ftp? You need to use an FTP client such as WsFTP or CuteFTP (only 2 examples out of many). Please go to a software search engine to find copies of the software (cnet.com, softseek.com....etc). To use the FTP client put ftp.yourdomain.com in the host text field. Where is perl? /usr/bin/perl Where is sendmail? /usr/sbin/sendmail Where do i upload my files for viewing on the web? You upload them to inside the public_html folder on your account. What is the system path for my account? /home/yourusername/public_html What forms of payment can you take?
